"The life you have led doesn't mean the only life you have.".If that is the case I have a load of things to be done.Would you believe me If I say I was fearful of riding a bike even as a pillion some 1 year back, then somehow the quoted text above took the better of me.Yes I have lot left to do in life and life that you have is your only chance. You always need a stimulant to even see your supressed desire and my wife, such a friend, proved to be that catalyst. She persuade and I oblige. On a hurry I bought a bike,a 155cc machine from Suzuki(gixxer) and on the 1st birthday of our bike here we were all ready for our 1st bike tour in group, destination tajpur.
If I say I am a novice in touring with a bike,it shall not be an overstatement as the fellow bikers had lot of experience by their side. All 6 of us are school friends.Subhadip had more than 70000km of ride experience ,while Saumya had nothing short of 30000 km I guess.Only Shubhankar is someone whom I look up to when it comes to biking experience.I had Smritikana as my pillion and Shrabani would accompany Saumya.
So on 6th of August,2016 we all set to cruise on 4 bikes,Me on Gixxer,Saumya on Pulsar 220,Subhadip on R15 and Shubhankar on the evergreen RE Classic 350.We would be starting from Kolaghat. The night before Subhadip and Shubhankar came to our place from Kolkata and stayed with us.Though we were determined to have a good night sleep before we start 5.30am next morning, who of us would care,as hours would often flies by when 6 school friends get a chance to spend a night together. After about 2 hours of sleep we finally kicked start at 6am.
From Kolaghat It will be a pleasant road till Nandakumar on NH41. The road was all wet as it rained all the night and the weather is gloomy and faced the boring drizzle the whole day. The selfie-stick that we carried with us helped us in great deal as Smritikana was given the duty to shoot and she carried out the job quite well.
The road past Nandakumar a narrow one but the biggest worry now is the reckless both way traffic one has to face specially the public buses. They will run in very high speed and shove you to the corner of the road contrary to your likings. Anyway the bikes must take extra caution specially while overtaking. Suddenly the rain-god shifted gears and now we were facing much difficulty in concentrating, so we decided to halt by a small roadside tea stall, probably the much needed break as we were riding for over one hour. Again time for selfie.
The road till Contai is smooth with few bad patches here and there. Again at Contai we halted as one of us was feeling the urge to respond to the call of nature.Though we were educated enough to avoid the backdrop of the nature and selected the 'sulabh souchalaya' instead.Anyway One has to take the Contai bypass or one would be stucked in the city traffic. We were about to reach Tajpur at 9am and as we were pretty early for the check in time we decided to have our breakfast in Shankarpur, a cousin beach of tajpur. We witnessed the full waves in high tide and spent around 1 hour there before we were off for our hotel in Tajpur
We checked in our hotel named "Sagar Kinare".Though the name is quite good the experience with the hotel was not that good for some reasons, the details of which is not worth sharing here as it will be another sour story to tell. One small advice, try avoid this hotel,if you can,the unworthy one. Anyway after having checked in,we locked our rooms and went to the beach along a short cut way through a small stretch of casurina forest. This part of the beach is little away from the main beach, what they call as 'mohona'. Two or three makeshift shops are there where we had our pomphrete-fry and a bottle of beer. The drizzle, the shoddy weather, the grey surroundings all came to life with full of colours for obvious reasons and that inebriated feel was awesome specially when you share that with your friends.Let now few pics describe that feel.
The lunch back in hotel was good one with pomphrete again and the thing that we were as hungry as a lion made the meal all that more tasty.Once again it was proven that beer is the good old appetiser. The evening was spent with a lazy walk along the road till we reach' mohona' ,stayed there for half an hour and back to hotel where there was arrangement for some refreshment.Shubhankar gave us a small but memorable treat ,what everyone reckoned as a small bachelor's party,so to say. Then a bad scuffle occured with the hotel staffs for all wrong reasons.
Anyway we missed the next morning sunrise which we were expecting to witness as none were ready to leave their bed that early. We checked out pretty early at around 9 am and again visited the windy Shankarpur beach for another breakfast. The return back home was nothing special, the weather didnt improved either. On our way back we halted in front of our school, where we all belong to,this time didnt miss the opportunity to snap some shots with our bikes.
The first group bike tour thus ends with a high note and lots of good memory.Time to see some more pics.
